iPhone 17 Price and Review Singapore

By Jon Ng, AI Chief at Novatise · Updated

The iPhone 17 is a year old and costs more than it did on launch day. Apple Singapore raised it by S$150 in September[10], so the 256GB model now sells for S$1,449[1]. It's still the iPhone we'd tell most people to buy. Just don't buy it from Apple: a featured shop at North Bridge Centre sells the same local set for S$1,258[12].

How we put this together: We haven't tested this phone ourselves. This review brings together published reviews, official specs and Singapore pricing and repair data. Every price below was checked on 24 Oct 2026 and links to its source.

How much is the iPhone 17 in Singapore?

Apple Singapore sells the iPhone 17 for S$1,449 (256GB) and S$1,749 (512GB), including GST, as checked on 24 October 2026. That is S$150 more than at launch. Red White Mobile at North Bridge Centre lists the 256GB local set at S$1,258, and Harvey Norman charges S$1,449.

17e, 17, Air or 18 Pro: where the money goes

Apple Singapore now sells four non-folding iPhones that most people choose between. The iPhone 17e starts at S$1,099[3], the 17 at S$1,449[1], the Air at S$1,749[5] and the 18 Pro at S$1,899[1]. Here's what each step up buys you, and what a dealer will pay you for the phone later.

The S$350 from 17e to 17 is the best-spent money in Apple's range. You get a bigger 120Hz screen with an Always-On mode, a second 48MP camera for wide shots, and the 18MP Center Stage selfie camera[2]. The 17e has a single camera and Apple lists no ProMotion for it[4].

The next S$300, to the Air, buys thinness and nothing else you'd notice: one rear camera, an eSIM-only design and a lower battery rating than the 17[6]. It also holds its value worst. A used 256GB Air fetches S$720 at Red White Mobile, less than a used iPhone 17 at S$820[14]. That says plenty about demand.

The 18 Pro adds a telephoto, the A20 Pro chip and a variable-aperture main camera for S$450 more than the 17. If you'd use a 4x zoom every week, read our iPhone 18 Pro price and review. If you mostly shoot food, friends and the occasional sunset at East Coast, the 17 covers it.

Why did the price go up? MacRumors reported that Apple raised US prices by US$100 on the iPhone 16, 17e, 17 and Air in September 2026, and dropped the 17 Pro[11]. In Singapore the 17 went from S$1,299 to S$1,449 on 11 September, according to LittleBigRedDot[10]. Few phones get dearer in their second year. This one did.

The Red White Mobile price

Red White Mobile is a featured shop in our directory. On 24 Oct 2026 its website listed the iPhone 17 5G 256GB at S$1,258 in every colour, a local set with Apple Singapore's one-year warranty[12][13]. That's S$191 under Apple and S$41 under the original launch price.

Look at that 17 Pro line twice. Apple no longer sells the 17 Pro[11], yet here it is for S$99 more than Apple charges for the plain 17. That gets you a telephoto and longer battery life. HardwareZone's test had the 17 Pro at 620 minutes against 593 for the 17[20]. If you want zoom and can find one in stock, it's the better buy.

On a Singtel plan, or buy the phone and go SIM-only?

Singtel's own comparison page argues that a phone plan can beat buying outright[17]. We tested that claim on the iPhone 17. Our baseline is Apple's S$1,449 plus Singtel's S$40 a month 5G+ Enhanced Core SIM-only plan[17]: S$2,409 over 24 months.

iPhone 17 on Singtel 24-month plans vs buying from Apple plus S$40 SIM-only

Singtel 5G+ Priority L[16]S$170S$128S$3,242S$833 more

Upfront prices as shown on Singtel's iPhone 17 page for the first-listed (256GB) option[16]; confirm the storage at checkout. Totals are upfront plus 24 monthly payments, before port-in savings, cashback or trade-ins. Plans differ in data and roaming, so compare allowances too.

Only Enhanced XS comes out ahead, by S$161. Every bigger plan costs more than buying the phone and going SIM-only. Priority L's S$170 upfront looks friendly and ends up S$833 dearer.

Now swap Apple for Red White Mobile. S$1,258 plus 24 months at S$40 is S$2,218, S$30 under Enhanced XS, and you're not tied to a contract.

M1 shows the iPhone 17 at S$0 upfront and S$62.95 a month on a phone-and-5G plan[18]. The card doesn't state the term or storage, so the total is unknown; ask before you sign. StarHub lists the 256GB on Unlimited+ Max at S$239 upfront with 24-month pay later, or S$0 with 36-month pay later, after discounts[19]. It doesn't show the plan's monthly price there, so we can't total it either.

What reviewers found

The screen finally caught up

This was the first base iPhone with a 120Hz screen that can drop to 1Hz, which is what allows the Always-On display. HardwareZone's Kenny Yeo found the Always-On mode made notifications easier to keep track of[20]. Apple rates it at 3,000 nits outdoors[2], which matters at a sunny bus interchange. The front is Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple claims is three times more scratch resistant[20].

Battery: good, not a leap

The published tests don't agree on how much better it is than the iPhone 16:

Our reading: it lasts longer than the Air in every test listed, and it beats or roughly matches the 16. Most people should get through a full workday without topping up, as long as they aren't streaming the whole time.

Illustration of a generic phone lying on a wet bus-stop bench in evening rain with a double-decker bus behind
A full working day is realistic; a heavy evening of streaming on the way home may need a top-up. Illustration (AI-generated).

Cameras: two, and both 48MP

HardwareZone called the Center Stage selfie camera "ingenious", since it widens the frame for group shots without you turning the phone. It found the main camera's photos more natural-looking than before. The 2x crop is good, but quality drops quickly beyond 2x[20]. The new 48MP ultra-wide gets noisy in low light, and there's no ProRes video[20]. Shooting satay at Lau Pa Sat after dark, you'll see that noise in wide shots.

Speed

HardwareZone measured the A19 beating the previous year's 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max[20], and GSMArena lists 8GB of RAM[21]. Nobody we read found it slow. PCMag gave it an Editors' Choice award[22].

The complaints

HardwareZone's two cons were the lack of a third camera and that Apple's promised personalised Siri still hadn't arrived[20]. Both are fair, and neither is a reason to spend S$450 more.

iPhone 17 repair costs

Apple's Singapore repair estimator gave these out-of-warranty prices on 24 Oct 2026. Apple says estimates are subject to tax, so we've added 9% GST for the iPhone 17. The 17e and 17 Pro are there for comparison[7].

A cracked iPhone 17 screen costs as much to fix at Apple as a 17 Pro screen: S$495, or about S$540 with GST. The 17e's screen is S$150 cheaper. Back glass is S$225 on all three.

Is AppleCare+ worth S$249?

Apple charges S$249 for AppleCare+ on the iPhone 17, paid in full[1]. With it, a screen or back-glass repair costs S$42 to S$148 depending on the damage, and other accidental damage costs S$148. The battery is covered once its health drops below 80%[8].

Our view: if you've cracked a screen in the last two years, buy it. If you use a case and a screen protector and have never broken a phone, keep the S$249.

Verdict

HardwareZone's headline called the iPhone 17 "the iPhone most people should buy"[20]. A year and a price rise later, we still agree, with one condition: don't pay S$1,449 for it.

Coming from an iPhone 13 or older, the jump is big: a 120Hz screen, two 48MP cameras and a much newer chip. Coming from a 16, it isn't worth paying S$1,258 for.
